In order to give everyone an even better chance of getting a seat in this seasons finals, we are adding a "semi-final" tournament to the league structure. Each league will have it's own semi-final tournament, which will be held on that leagues regular night one week before the Championship Tournament.
Semi-Final Structure
The Semi-Final Tournament wil be played in a "shootout" format. A shootout is where there are (approximately) the same number of players at each table and your goal is to Win Your Table (like a Sit-n-Go). So for example, if 40 people show up to play at your Semi-Finals, you could have 5 tables of 8. The winner of each of these tables (5 total winners) will then move on to the Championship Tournament.
Who Is Eligible To play In The Semi-Final Tournament?
In order to participate in the Semi-Final Tournament, a player must meet ALL of the following qualifications:
- You must be a participant in either the Tuesday or Thursday Leagues and have attended at least 50% of the tournaments for that league
- Your membership must be up to date
- You cannot already have a seat in the final event (see below)
The Semi-Final Tournament is held for league players who do not already have a seat in the Championship event. Therefore, the following players are not eligible:
- The Top 15 point earners in each league. These player are automatically seated in the Championship event and therefore ineligible to participate in the Semi-Finals
- Player's who have already won a seat at one of our satellite events
- Anyone who has been "gifted" a seat by another player
There will be 2 Semi-Final Tournaments, one for the Tuesday night league and one for the Thursday night crowd. A player who is active in both leagues and meets the above criteria is welcome to participate in both events. However, in keeping with the spirit of the rules above, if a player particiaptes in the Tuesday night semi final and wins a seat, then that player is no longer eligible to participate in the Thursday leagues event. The object is to give as many people as possible an equal opportnity to participate in our Championship event.
Good Luck and Have a Great Season!
